Savar-Keraniganj Wellfield Plant

The Savar-Keraniganj Wellfield Plant (often referred to as the Tetuljhora-Bhakurta Well Field) is a critical water infrastructure project managed by Dhaka WASA. It serves as a sustainable groundwater alternative to help meet the growing water demands of the Dhaka metropolitan area, specifically targeting the Mirpur zone. Key features include: Production Capacity: Designed to produce approximately 150 million liters (15 crore liters) of water per day. Technological Integration: Utilizes advanced SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems for real-time monitoring of water flow, pressure, and gas chlorination. Strategic Infrastructure: Includes a vast network of deep tube wells (DTWs), transmission pipelines, and pump houses across the Savar and Keraniganj regions. Sustainability Goal: Part of a larger “paradigm shift” by Dhaka WASA to reduce over-reliance on the depleting central Dhaka aquifer by tapping into more sustainable outlying groundwater sources.
